The Paraa Ferry is a vital transport link within Murchison Falls National Park, connecting the southern and northern sectors across the Nile River. It is especially important for tourists accessing game drive areas, lodges, and other attractions within the park.
Daily Ferry Schedule
The ferry operates multiple times a day, ensuring smooth and timely movement for visitors and park rangers. Below is the current standard schedule:
Morning Crossings (South to North and vice versa):
- 7:00 AM
- 9:00 AM
- 11:00 AM
Afternoon Crossings:
- 12:00 PM
- 2:00 PM
- 4:00 PM
- 6:00 PM (Final crossing of the day)
Note: All times are subject to change depending on weather conditions, water levels, and operational requirements of the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
Important Guidelines
- Arrival Time: It is advised to arrive at the ferry point at least 15–20 minutes before the scheduled crossing time.
- Vehicle Limitations: The ferry carries a limited number of vehicles per trip. Priority is usually given to pre-booked park vehicles and guests from certain lodges.
- Park Entry Permits: Ensure you have valid park entry permits before attempting to cross, as these are often checked at the ferry points.
- Safety Precautions: Always follow the guidance of the ferry staff. Engine shutdowns are mandatory while on board.
