Current situation (as of publication)

Uganda is currently affected by an outbreak of Ebola disease (Bundibugyo virus strain), first reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo in May 2026 and subsequently confirmed in Uganda. The World Health Organization declared this outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 17 May 2026. Confirmed cases in Uganda have been reported in Kampala; Uganda has temporarily restricted border crossings with DRC as a precaution. Multiple governments have issued elevated travel advisories for Uganda as a result.
