Boomu ("together") is a genuine community tourism project — a cooperative of around 40 local women, formed in 1999 to reduce poverty and malnutrition in the villages of Kihaguzi and Kigaragara, funding school fees for local children through tourism income and craft sales. Staying here means your accommodation spend goes directly to the community rather than a commercial operator, and guests can take part in cooking demonstrations, craft weaving, and a guided village walk alongside the standard stay.
