Overview

Sambiya River Lodge is a family-run, eco-conscious property centrally located within the park — close enough to the top of the falls for an easy morning hike, and under an hour from Budongo Forest for chimp trekking, which makes it one of the more genuinely central bases in Murchison Falls for travellers doing a mix of activities rather than focusing on just one.

Location and access

The lodge overlooks the Sambiya River itself, with floodlit evening wildlife viewing from the veranda — nocturnal animals are visible from the lodge grounds even without a dedicated night game drive.

What's on site

A swimming pool, spacious restaurant serving local and international dishes, and a mix of individual and family thatched cottages plus more basic bandas for travellers wanting to spend a little less without leaving the property.

Best for

Travellers who want one central base for a mix of activities — falls hike, Budongo chimp trekking, and fishing — without a lot of driving between them.
